![]() ![]() ![]() They spent the whole time of their characters establishment to ultimately want this but just rub it off like nothing didn’t seem right.Īnyhow, did anyone catch the end credits? Is there going to be a sequel? I don’t know, something along those lines would’ve just made more sense than just them sayin they “don’t want to do this anymore because of said consequences of it”. Winifred then returns to be with her sisters in some form of light/purity alluding to that she cleared up her past mistakes etc. The redemption for them being some self-sacrifice coming from Winifred Sanderson when her and Becca team up to conjure a spell to defeat the Mother Witch once in for all. Sarah and Mary Sanderson eventually die by Mother Witch towards the middle-end. Story continues on, Mother Witch comes back and tries kill the whole town + Sanderson sisters. I feel like the initial plot of the Sandersons hunting down Becca would been fine, but the twist for them as when they were about to kill her, find out that she’s a witch (in contrast to them as kids and Mother Witch). In my opinion, I feel the twist should’ve been The Mother Witch gets her life energy by killing other witches when they’ve reached adulthood and that the Sanderson sisters team up with the new witch, Becca to defeat her. I truly thought she was going to be the antagonist at the end. Seeing how youthful she looked, she probably killed and ate way more children. My thoughts were that the true evil witch was The Mother Witch in the beginning. What happened in this movie was essentially, “oh this is what happens, I don’t want it anymore”, and I feel like doesn’t do the characters justice. Typically it’s often done in a form of selflessness and pure self sacrifice to save their history past crimes (at least in their own accord). In general, it’s hard to forgive a characters story arch, especially when they committed crimes themselves. I had thought about it and this ‘redemption’ was poorly executed. The 3 main older actresses will still get praised because, despite the terrible writing, they still manage to be fun and lovely but people are not going to tuning into this year after year This one is not going to be looked at fondly down the line. The weird modern afflictions that everyone just kept throwing out. The woman that shouts "seriously?!" when bumped into, the woman that steps outside and nopes out of the situation. Weird sets, actors that were acting like they are from 2022. The second movie felt like it was ripped from Scary Movie. Despite the sisters being funny and having fun it took what it was doing seriously. Look at the opening scenes set in old Salem. What the first took the time to take seriously the second couldn't bother. (Mary riding roombas saying "wow I'm surfing cowabunga!" being a stand out for a joke that shouldn't exist in this movie). You have them popping out modern jokes left and right that break any kind of emulsion that they might have. You have the witches appear and instantly start singing with modern beats and styles out of nowhere. And not just dated but they make it feel worse because they couldn't be bothered by trying to find the line of old world and new world and keeping them separate despite the fact that they are colliding. There is comedy to be found in them navigating this world and misunderstanding in confusion but it flows organically. Nothing in the present feels out of place or forced in. The original, despite having the whole olden time witches bumbling their way through a modern world, feels timeless. It was worth a single watch but in no way does it compare favorably to the original.
